I love the NFL, but.....

Empty Sports Bars

I'm cool with watching college, high school and youth football all season. I'm don't think there are too many bigger pro football fans than me, but this lockout garbage is annoying me. Millionaires and billionaires caught in a power struggle that could have been avoided. I'm sorry, If I had to choose a side, I'll always side with the player. After all, I don't turn on the TV Sunday afternoon to see Jerry Jones and Al Davis battle each other on the field. I don't have a problem with the players making fortunes after dedicating the majority of the first part of their lives preparing to play in the N.(ot) F.(or) L.(ong).

But the fans are the ones being speared from behind. We spend the money to see these players play. We spend millions on the jersey's and hats. We are the reasons why the beer companies spend millions in advertising, and the network pay billions to broadcast. But, when I really giving it some thought, I'm a football fan. I'll watch little kids play in a empty lot. If the pro's close up shop this season, I'm sure the networks will show college games on Sunday's. Maybe I'll get to watch more Division II & III football teams (My bad, the Football Championship Subdivisions). Oh man, here's an idea, maybe the HBCU's can arrange to switch there games over to Sunday, for some more exposure. I might even watch some Ivy League games. Ok, so maybe I'm getting a little to carried away, but you get my point. (Note to networks: Baseball alone is not going to get it done)There will be plenty of football to watch, if you need to get your football fix, in the likely event the lockout stands.

I've already set my schedule for Friday nights at the local high schools, Saturday mornings at the local youth games, Saturday nights watching NCAA games, and whatever football the networks find to fill in on Sunday afternoon and evenings.
